METWomen Workshop: Sharing Your Story

May 23rd, 2018

What has Christ done in your life? What is your story of faith? We all have a story to tell!

Have you ever considered putting your story in writing, being ready to share it when the opportunity arises? The single most important task God gave the believer to do is sharing the Good News of Salvation with the lost. Everybody is called to do that. The Apostle Peter urges us to be prepared to give an answer for the hope that is within us.

Come and learn how to do just that!
Learn how to share what Jesus has done in your life with confidence.
How do I start? How do I explain the Gospel?

You will:

  • record your personal milestones, using simple everyday language;
  • consider your target audience, using illustrations for today’s listeners;
  • learn how to inspire a response; and
  • make Jesus the center of your story.

METYouth High School Spring Retreat

May 25th - May 27th, 2018

$0 - $160

No question – to follow Jesus is to be odd in the eyes of the world. Foolish, some would say. Not of the world, Jesus says. Strangers. Aliens.

Because this is not our home. This is not our hope. This is not our stay.
And yet, we do have a life to live. Here. Now. How?

Trevor Nehring is going to take us through considering the worldview we live with and aligning our thinking with that of the Scripture. And since thinking always leads to doing, it will challenge and encourage you to be who you are – alien in this world.

METYouth Junior High Spring Retreat

May 25th - May 27th, 2018

$0 - $125

Your life is a part of a greater story, a story of reality. It’s the story of a continuing active Presence of God, with Christ at the center, and you in mind. You are already living in it – it’s time to own what it is all about, and how you fit in it.

We have a great privilege to have Aaron Maley with us for the retreat. He will take us through the history of the world to show us that God always had a plan, which continues to this day, and that Jesus has been its bedrock from the beginning. But God’s plan is not done, and there is a place that we have in it, no matter our age.

  • Drop off at The Met at 5:00 pm on Friday, May 25.
  • Pick up at The Met at 12:30 pm on Sunday, May 27.

Child dedication

Parent/Child Dedication Class

May 27th - June 10th, 2018

A REQUEST BY PARENTS FOR CHILD DEDICATION

There is no more precious and joyful gift in life than that of a child. At The Met we highly value children and family life. One way that we can honour the institution of family is to give parents the opportunity to dedicate their children to the Lord. Hannah presented Samuel to the Lord (1 Samuel 1:28) and Jesus was presented by Joseph and Mary when He was eight days old (Luke 2:22). During His earthly ministry, Jesus often warmly received the children brought to Him.

Please understand that this is not a service of Baptism in that it has no bearing on the child's spiritual status before God. The purpose of this service is for parents to indicate that their desire is to raise their child in the training and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). It is also an opportunity for the congregation to renew its commitment to living exemplary lives before the children and youth of the church.

The next Child Dedication Service is scheduled for Father's Day, June 17, 2018.

Bridges on the Journey, Book 1, in the three-book series, A Woman’s Journey of Discipleship will be offered in a small group format designed specifically for new believers, women exploring the Christian faith, or women wanting to learn how to help new believers (maximum 8 participants).

Esther: It’s Tough Being a Woman

By Beth Moore

If you've ever felt inadequate, threatened, or pushed into situations that seemed overpowering, this is the Bible study for you. Just as it was tough being a woman in Esther's day, it's tough today. This portion of God's Word contains treasures to aid us in our hurried, harried, and pressured lives. Beth Moore will peel back the layers of history and show how very contemporary and applicable the story of Esther is to our lives today.

Bridges on the Journey: A Woman’s Journey of Discipleship

The compelling vision of A Woman’s Journey of Discipleship is to encourage you to know Jesus and become like Him and to equip you with the skills to disciple others. This vision empowers you to embrace God’s vision and passion for discipleship as He transforms your mind, will, and emotions. The journey incorporates Bible Study, life-to-life sharing, scripture memory, and prayer principles.

METWomen's Revive! Retreat

October 12th - October 14th, 2018

Looking up, Looking in, Looking out...

In 1530, John Calvin wrote, "our wisdom ... consists almost entirely of two parts: the knowledge of God and of ourselves." As we seek spiritual renewal, we must first learn who the God we worship really is and then look at who we really are. Only when we truly know our Heavenly Father and are willing to look at ourselves through His eyes can we live life to the fullest. And, we can't begin to love others in the way that God commands until we love ourselves, because He tells us to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind and love others as you love yourself". Let's move toward personal renewal by looking up to the One True God, looking in at our true selves, and looking out at the world God asks us to love.

Guest Speaker - Kala Thompson

Kala Thompson lives in Sussex, New Brunswick, and retired in 2016 from Wycliffe Bible Translators after serving with her husband Bud in Central America and Canada for 26 years. A lay pastor with the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches, she is currently the Life Groups Coordinator at Atlantic Community Church. Kala is also a registered nurse and has taught art at both college and high school levels. She is "Mom" to four children, "Grammy" to ten grandchildren and "Gigi" to six great-grandchildren.
